Anita Friis Sommer is an Associate Professor in Innovation Management, Chief Operating Officer of the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO₂ Research Center, and the award-winning co-creator of the Agile–Stage-Gate® model with Dr Robert G. Cooper. She is the author of Mission-Driven Innovation: How to Lead Technology in a Complex World.
Anita Friis Sommer works where research meets industrial leadership. She is an Associate Professor in Innovation Management and Chief Operating Officer of the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO₂ Research Center (CORC). Before that, she spent more than a decade in senior leadership at the LEGO Group, leading sustainable operations and technology innovation.
Together with Dr Robert G. Cooper, the creator of Stage-Gate®, she co-created the award-winning Agile–Stage-Gate® hybrid model. Her research on innovation processes, portfolio management, virtual experimentation and mission-driven technology maturation has been published in the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research-Technology Management and by Cambridge University Press.
Her book, Mission-Driven Innovation: How to Lead Technology in a Complex World, introduces the Mission-Driven Innovation System™ — seven components for leading technology innovation under deep uncertainty.
